When should I book my Marlborough Wine Tour
How early should I book my tour?
There is a lot to think about when you are starting your holiday planning. From where your going, what’s important to you in your holiday and when is best to travel.
When looking at your wine tour in the Marlborough Region there is of course lots of choice. But even though the region has a big reputation, it isn’t that big on capacity, particularly in the busy summer months.
Booking early to avoid disappointment
We recommend booking directly on our website as early as you can. Tours sell out in the busy summer monhts and we don’t run every tour every day. If we don’t have enough demand form your location ( for example Picton) we may not be able to operate from that location on the day. Picton tends to be one tour per day but Blenheim we have mutliple tours each day in the summer season. If you book early on the tour you want then that will be the tour that will go ahead on the day. Other tour may be closed out if there isn’t enough demand.
In the off season months of May to September Marlborough is very quiet so in order to keep operating all year around we need to know that you are coming in advance! We really appreciate a couple of days notice as tours do not go everyday over winter due to lack of numbers and if you are phoning on the day and we don’t already have a tour going out then we won’t be able to cater for you on a tour.

Do I have to pay straight away?
If you book directly on our website months in advance you will be have the choice to pay just a 25% deposit instead of paying in full. Or if you don’t want to pay the deposit get in touch with us and we can manually book you in and send you a payment link to pay closer to the time of the tour.

Our team of guides are fantastic, people focused and there to make sure you have a great day out with us. Whether you know everything about wine or are just starting out on your journey and wanting to learn, our guides will make sure we customise the tour to your knowledge level. There is a whole lot of science to wine making, but there’s also a lot of art and passion. And of course a wine tour is just generally great fun meeting new people and making new friends along the way.
We try and mix all the elements together so that you learn, have fun but don’t have to get too serious about the whole scene if you don’t want to. It’s also great as our clientele are usually interested in having a great day out without getting too silly.
Do you pick up and drop off?
Absolutely we offer a pick up/drop off serice as we don’t want you drinking and driving! We pick up in the central Picton and Blenheim Hotels and motels in the business districts and of course at Air BnB’s in central areas. If your location is outside of our pick up zone we will be in touch and might have to arrange a different arrangement or add an additional pick up fee.
What about Accommodation?
Early is also good for accommodation as in the busy months – particularly February and March you will find rooms hard to come by! There is several hotels and small motels as well as Bed and Breakfast and Air Bnb’s to choose from.

Did we mention the gastronomic delights of winery restaurant eating while on a Marlborough Wine Tour with MWT?
Marlborough has some lovely winery restaurants and the food is divine. We recommend having your main meal of the day whilst on tour – which means a full day wine tour. Two reasons for this, it helps when wine tasting and second, the food is to die for! We usually visit Saint Clair Vineyard Kitchen or the Picton Food Cartel at Allan Scott Family Wines.
If you are doing our afternoon wine tour we don’t have a lunch stop, but you should be able to buy a snack along the way.
